Getting Started with Classroom Pulse

Everything you need to start tracking behavior data effectively. From account setup to your first behavior log.

Welcome to Classroom Pulse!

Classroom Pulse is a comprehensive behavior tracking platform designed specifically for educators. Whether you're a special education teacher, general education teacher, or behavior analyst, this guide will help you get up and running quickly.

Create Your Account

Visit classroompulse.io/signup and create your account using:

  • Email & Password: Use your school email for easy verification
  • Google Sign-In: One-click sign up with your Google account
  • Microsoft Sign-In: Perfect for schools using Office 365

Verify Your Email

Check your inbox for a verification email from Classroom Pulse. Click the link to verify your account. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or request a new verification email.

Complete Your Profile

After verification, you'll be asked to complete your profile:

  • Your Name: How you want to appear in reports
  • Role: Teacher, Behavior Specialist, Administrator, etc.
  • School/Organization: Optional, for team features
  • Grade Level(s): The grades you work with

Pro Tip: Choose the Right Plan

Start with the Free plan (3 students) to explore features. Upgrade to Starter ($7.99/mo) for 10 students or Essential ($12.99/mo) for 15 students with AI features.

Adding Students

Before you can track behavior, you need to add students to your classroom. Classroom Pulse is designed with FERPA compliance in mind.

Navigate to Students

From your dashboard, click Students in the left sidebar navigation. This opens your student management view.

Click 'Add Student'

Click the Add Student button in the top-right corner. A form will appear for entering student information.

Enter Student Information

Complete the student profile:

  • First Name: Required - the student's first name
  • Last Name: Optional - can be omitted for privacy
  • Grade Level: Select from Pre-K through 12th grade
  • Initial Notes: Any background information (optional)

Save and Continue

Click Save Student to add them to your classroom. Repeat for additional students. You can always edit student information later from their profile page.

Privacy First

Student data is encrypted and stored securely. You can use first names only or initials for additional privacy. See our FERPA Compliance page for details.

Bulk Import (School/District Plans)

School and District plans support bulk student import via CSV file. This is ideal for adding many students at once.

Your First Behavior Log

Quick Log is the fastest way to record behavior incidents. It's designed for use during instruction without disrupting your teaching flow.

Access Quick Log

There are several ways to access Quick Log:

  • Header Button: Click the lightning bolt icon in the top navigation
  • Floating Button: Tap the blue "+" button (mobile)
  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Q from anywhere
  • Dashboard: Click "Log Behavior" in the quick actions

Select the Student

Choose the student from the dropdown list. Students are sorted by most recently logged for quick access. You can also type to search by name.

Select or Create a Behavior

Choose from preset behaviors or create a custom one:

Common Behaviors

  • Verbal outburst
  • Physical aggression
  • Task refusal
  • Out of seat
  • Self-injurious behavior

Positive Behaviors

  • On-task behavior
  • Following directions
  • Positive peer interaction
  • Completed work
  • Used coping strategy

Add ABC Data (Optional)

For Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) data collection, expand the ABC section:

  • Antecedent: What happened right before the behavior?
  • Behavior: Specific description of what occurred
  • Consequence: What happened immediately after?

Add Additional Details

Optionally add more context:

  • Intensity: Rate 1-5 using the slider
  • Duration: How long the behavior lasted
  • Location: Where it occurred (classroom, hallway, etc.)
  • Notes: Any additional context

Save the Log

Click Save Logto record the incident. The behavior is immediately added to the student's timeline and will appear in reports and analytics.

Congratulations!

You've logged your first behavior! Continue logging consistently for accurate pattern analysis. AI insights become available after 10+ data points.

Dashboard Tour

The dashboard is your command center for behavior tracking. Here's what you'll find:

Activity Feed

Real-time feed of recent behavior logs across all students. Click any entry to view details or edit.

Student Cards

Quick view of each student's status. Shows today's incident count and trend indicators.

Weekly Summary

Visual charts showing behavior frequency over the past week. Spot trends at a glance.

Quick Actions

One-click access to common tasks: Log Behavior, Add Student, Generate Report.

Mobile Setup (PWA)

Classroom Pulse works as a Progressive Web App (PWA), giving you app-like experience without downloading from an app store. Log behaviors quickly from your phone or tablet.

  1. 1.Open Safari and visit classroompulse.io
  2. 2.Tap the Share button (square with arrow)
  3. 3.Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  4. 4.Tap "Add" to confirm

Android

  1. 1.Open Chrome and visit classroompulse.io
  2. 2.Tap the three-dot menu (top right)
  3. 3.Tap "Add to Home screen"
  4. 4.Tap "Add" to confirm

Offline Support

Once installed, Classroom Pulse works offline! Behavior logs are saved locally and sync when you reconnect. See our Offline Capabilities guide for details.
